Prep Time: 5 min // Cook Time: 2 min // Total: 7 min // Serving: 3
Ingredients:
Pear Sauce:
15 ounces canned Pear halves, in 100% juice
King’s Hawaiian Sliced Bread, 6 slices
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon 100% canned pear juice
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for pan frying)
Pear Egg Batter:
1 egg, raw
2 tablespoons 100% canned pear juice
Variations:
Peach stuffed French toast: use canned peaches
Use French bread instead of King’s Hawaiian bread
Instructions:
Mix 1 can of pears (save the juice from the can for the sauce and egg batter) vanilla extract, nutmeg with 1 tablespoon of canned juice in a blender for 15 seconds or until it becomes puree consistency
Beat one egg along with 2 tablespoons of canned pear juice in a bowl
Spread ½ tablespoon of pureed pear sauce onto each slice of King’s Hawaiian bread
Place 2 slices of the pear-spread Hawaiian bread together, with the filling inside to make a sandwich
Dip each side of the sandwich with the pear egg batter. Let the excess egg batter drip back into the bowl
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick frying pan
Place the battered pear sandwich in the pan and fry for 1 minute on each side or until each side of the bread turns golden brown
Serve with the remaining pureed pear sauce
